So with 5 opens down and 5 to go plus the 40th Anniversary Nationals is has been a interesting year so far. Since John introduced the Mk3 layout with Woody (426) at the Nationals in September last year the first Production boat popped out of the new moulds in December. We have now seen 10 new boats built in the first 6 months of the year and still 3 more on order. I think that shows the success of the design. And are they quicker? 13 boats out and great racing was order of the day at UP River last weekend. A good selection of mk 1’s 2’s and 3’s spread through the fleet. Well done Marcus Ingram an ex LN sailor who borrowed Robbies boat on the day and showed us how its done! Roll on the Northern’s on 19-20th May

The Lightning is 40 year old this year and as they say ‘life begins at 40!’ with John rolling out the Mark 3 Lightning. New Leader in Travelers Series

New Leader in Travelers Series

With two events to go and Up River Weekend over we have a new leader of the travelers Series. Penny Yarwood having won Broxbourne and Up River to add to Cookham and the Northern’s now deposes Simon who has led since the second event. Sailing a Giles boat since the loss of 404 an impressive feat. However she cannot make the Inland’s at Hunts on the 21st October so someone else will get a chance to win an event.
