The Lightning is 40 year old this year and as they say ‘life begins at 40!’ with John rolling out the Mark 3 Lightning. New Leader in Travelers Series

With two events to go and Up River Weekend over we have a new leader of the travelers Series. Penny Yarwood having won Broxbourne and Up River to add to Cookham and the Northern’s now deposes Simon who has led since the second event. Sailing a Giles boat since the loss of 404 an impressive feat. However she cannot make the Inland’s at Hunts on the 21st October so someone else will get a chance to win an event.

With Cookham being an absolute drifter lottery Penny won all three races with no luck involved at all (seriously well done Penny masterclass of fluky wind sailing). We now are all looking forward to stretching our legs for the last salt water sail of the year at Royal Lymington YC on 15th-16th July before a Summer break. Who can forget the gales we sailed in at Thorpe Bay last year! Well all of you who did not go I suppose… Don’t miss out this year, with free camping on the grass on the seafront and great sailing you would be missing out if you don’t give it a go.
