Well I am sure we are all promising ourselves this is the year we will get ft, lose weight and take on the world! Well lets hope many of you start with the Lightning travelers series which is now posted on the website. A varied list with some classic venues I hope to see many of you at a few of the events. Its all Over now

Its all Over now

So the Rum & Mince pies is over and the Season comes to a close. No doubt who won the travelers series with minimum points the title goes to Simon Hopkins of Up River Yacht club. Always there or there about in past years Simon was (almost) unbeatable after purchasing Robbie’s new championship winning boat from 2015. Bryan Westley gets the award for the most traveled. I don’t think he missed an open meeting and was rewarded with the Silver Fleet trophy at the Nationals and the Series and having secured his first win at Broxbourne he now gets to sail in the Gold Fleet. End of Season upon us

So 2016 sailing season is nearly over but wait the Rum and Mince Pies at West Oxfordshire SC is yet to come on 12th November. Come along and see if we can empty that bottle of Rum before retiring to the pub for a well earned meal. Southern’s Return to Lymington

After several years at Cookham Reach SC the Southern Area Champs is moving to our Builder John Claridge’s home club of Royal Lymington YC. The Lightning’s will be sailing as part of the Lymington Town Regatta, who have given us our own start and promises some memorable sailing on the Solent. Entry can be made on line for a £5 discount and John Claridge has kindly opened is House/Garden/Shed/Drive for those wishing to crash on Saturday night. Contact John to let him know you are coming and make arrangements. It all kicks of at 1pm on Saturday with 3 races back to back and 3 back to back at 10.30am Sunday. the event is limited to 120 boats so it may be a good idea to book...

After the adventures up north where the turnout was a bit disappointing but those who went had a great time we move back south for a more traditional venue of Cookham SC on the upper Thames. A big fleet of home boats awaits those travellers for what is usually a great days sailing! Can anyone stop Simon’s winning streak?
