Up River Report

Hi Folks, Up River report is posted up, with summary results. Just waiting for the full results table and the series update. Next we’re off to Weston for the Sea Champs, great sailing this, on Southampton Water, definitely salty, but kind of gentle with the wavey things, except in a gale of course and we had one of those a few years back. Southampton Water was trying hard to do an impression of the north Atlantic on that occassion. All the details on the events page, camping available at the club, really nice and friendly venue. Hope to...

Bernard Patterson

Bernard Patterson

We’ve received a somewhat sad note from Anne Giles. Sadly I have to report the passing of one of the Lightning 368 class early owners and a leading light for many years. Up River

Hi Folks, Our next event is almost here, Up River this weekend. Saturday is our second training day, Sunday is the open event. Camping available at the club, loads of places to stay locally as an alternative. Up River is a super place to sail, a good tidal river setting, and easy to get to, over in Essex. This is our most eastern event actually. There’s the usual good thread running on the forum and plenty of info on the Events Page. Boats Boats are moving along nicely again, with a couple sold to new owners this week. A couple of good...

Cookham the Burkett Next, then Up River

Another great weekend at Cookham, big turnout with a strong turnout of the local fleet and a good attendacne from visitors. Light winds proved interesting, but kept the boats moving. A super galley kept everyone on top form, with local helms Richard and Martin showing everyone else the way home. Following a super day at Cookham (Results and series updates are now published) we are off to the Lord Burkett next. This is a just for fun event, but is becoming something of a fixture in the LN calendar now. There is a good chance we’ll have...

Cookham Reach Open

Hi Folks, well our next event is here already, Cookham Reach tomorrow 21 June, Club is open at 09.00, first race 11.00. The omens are looking good, it’s the longest day, the Summer Solistice, weather is looking fine. Luckily we don’t have to go anywhere near the A303, Stone Henge is going to be grid-locked I suspect. Cookham is easy to get too, just of the M4 by Maidenhead. Super stretch of the Thames to go sailing on, and great for spectators watching the racing. Hope to see you there.
