Broxbourne and Weston

Super fun at Broxbourne, disappointing turnout with only six boats on the water, two of them the home fleet, but to their credit the whole home fleet was on the water with us, so well done to Geoff and Dave. Light drizzle in the morning soon cleared and we had a good sunny day, with slowing building winds, everyone was hiked out the the last race, mixing it up with the clubs Saturday sailors in Flying Fifteens and Phathoms. Really amusing at the marks calling water on a couple of FFs, they are a lot bigger than a Lightning!!!

Simon won the event with Caroline coming in second and Mike third. The event did wonders for my series placings too, with a third, fourth and fifth.

Next it’s the Sea Champs at Weston and already attendance at this one is looking good, we’ve sailed there for the last few years and always enjoyed it. The club is really friendly and helpful, it’s right on the front with loads of space making launching and recovery really simple. This is a weekend event with camping overnight for those that need it. Camping is in the field next to the club house, so you can set up camp next to car and boat, all very simple. I think Lee and Emma and bring down the mansion (Bratley Towers) so I guess there will be the odd glass of red consumed on Saturday night with the traditional curry.

Full info and details on the events page and there’s a thread running in the forum. Southampton Water is gentle sea sailing as well, big river really, but you get a few little waves just to make it feel proper salty stuff. One of my favourite events of the year this.
