Mid year musing

So with 5 opens down and 5 to go plus the 40th Anniversary Nationals is has been a interesting year so far. Since John introduced the Mk3 layout with Woody (426) at the Nationals in September last year the first Production boat popped out of the new moulds in December. We have now seen 10 new boats built in the first 6 months of the year and still 3 more on order. I think that shows the success of the design.

And are they quicker? Well they are new so bound to be and the helms at the front of the fleet tend to buy new boats so it skews the results. However at every event the older boats are still up there battling it out for the prizes showing that the core belief of the class not to have created a fleet where the older boats are in a separate division has been a success.

The big event of the year is now looming on the horizon in the form of the 40th anniversary Nationals at Northampton on 22-23rd September. We desperately want 40 boats so even if racing is not your thing please come along for the fun. I hear rumours entry will also get you a special 40th Anniversary Tee shirt!
