Flashbytes – News-briefs

Flashbytes – News-briefs

FLASH was the quarterly Class newsletter, and was  available to members of the Class Association in both paper and electronic formats and was between twelve and sixteen pages long. It was not sponsored, so there was very little advertising and lots of useful info, opinions, comments and advice about Lightnings and sailing them.

We have kept at least the last ten editions on the website, under FLASH on the Legacy Archive Tab.

FLASH was typically a mix of Class news, sailing tips and advice, boat related articles like repair schemes, event info and something about experiences’ or intrepid adventures. It was always amusing, often informative and generally a talking point. We very much welcomed content and articles from Members and Non-Members alike. We had Lightning sailing in the North Atlantic (well Pentland Firth), Notes from Galway Ireland, our furthest west Lightning and everything in between.

A sample edition of FLASH can be found here: Sample Edition of FLASH

Flashbytes were short e-mail based news-briefs that were e-mailed to Class Association members, registered users of this website and others interested in the Class.

They were not published to any kind of schedule, but appeared when there were a few useful updates to pass around the Class, typically one or two a month.
