The 40th National Championships 2018

nats-81-2012

Well it is time to plan ahead for our 40th anniversary National Championships, which will again be held at Northampton SC on the 22nd-23rd September 2017. A change this year as we swap the Supernovas for the RS100’s but I can assure you they are pretty harmless as well. You’ll find details of the event below and also on the Events Page.

As well as this being the National Championships, it really is a very informal and enjoyable event for helms of all abilities. We tend to have; Mortals (Most of Us), elevated Mortals (the Silver Fleet), who have won something in the past and the Gods (Gold Fleet) who have won most everything else!!! Gods help Mortals sail better around the courses and generally ‘coach’ people round, it’s that kind of event. This year us extra special as we will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of this great little boat.

There will be lots of chat and info on Facebook about sailing in the event and many people come along on the Friday for some coaching and practice, as well as a bit of a social event in the evening.

Camping is available on site for FREE on Saturday. There is no charge for camping on Friday, and you can practice if you want to do. Actually sailing on the Friday is very good fun. Just ring the club to let them know you want a pitch.

For Accommodation see the Club’s Local Accommodation Page.

Car and Boat parking
There is loads of space within the club grounds for camping, car and boat parking. You can set up camp, with your boat and car parked next to your tent which is only 50yds from the water. Lee normally turns up with a tent the size of a palace, so having inspected everyone’s pitches, most swing by the Palace Lee with a bottle and a couple of glasses in hand, for a spot of socialising.

Highlight of last year was watching the ‘pop-up’ tents go up. Well it wasn’t so much the going up, that was the amusing bit, it was the going down antics that provided the entertainment – spring in a box comes to mind.

Tide Information
I’ve got some good news on this one – there isn’t any – that is unless we all capsize together and make a very big wave.
