Welcome

Welcome to another issue of Flashbytes, our 2012 season is off to a flying start, read more below.

Season Off to a Flying Start

Our new season really has got off to a good start. We saw more pre-season interest in boats than we have for a good few years, often only one or two boats were available and typically were snapped up in weeks, if not days. And that remains the case with demand out stripping supply by some margin.

If you have a boat you are not sailing and want to see it go to a good new home, then drop me a note and I will get an advert up on the For Sale page. Just take a look at the ones there, for an idea of the info needed etc.

Haversham Class Training Day

The Haversham Training Day took place on a glorious sunny Saturday, with much better wind than forecast. Some super coaching by Dan and Phil got the twelve helms taking part involved in some interesting activities. There are a few photos on the website of the day.

Haversham, as always, did a great job on the day, with an all day galley provided by Nettie, who makes a breakfast roll to die for. Many thanks to all those who helped out on the day.

Hillingdon OAC Open

Our first racing of the year was a Hillingdon and once again we were blessed with another bright sunny day. Winds were a bit
lighter, but nonetheless we kept moving well enough in every race.

Top spot went to Matt Hopkins, winning his first open event, with Caroline Key and Dave Tiney in 2nd and 3rd. Well done to Matt, who cross the line in the last race about six inches ahead of Caroline in the closest of finishes.

Fishers Green Open - 14th April

Next up is our event at Fishers Green SC. It is a good while since we sailed at this lovely venue in the Lee Valley Country Park.
We are hoping for a strong turnout, as our event coincides with their Open Day and BBQ, making a great family day out.

Fishers Green is very easy to get too, just a couple of miles off the M25 at junction 26. A great event to attend if you want to try an open, lots of space, really nice water and a very friendly and welcoming Club.

You can find full details including directions and a link to the Club website below.
